The Advertising Practitioner’s Council of Nigeria, APCON, has concluded plans to hold a training workshop for Advertising Practitioners. APCON is the apex regulatory body for the practice of advertising in Nigeria.

A statement signed by the Ag. Registrar/Chief Executive, Mrs. Ijedi Iyoha, recently said that the purpose of the workshop was in line with the educational mandate of the Council, which is saddled with the responsibility of improving the knowledge base and skills of persons engaged in advertising practice and other related Marketing Communications Practice in Nigeria.

“The objective is to drive skill development that will lead to Industry professionalism through constant training and retraining”.

Citing Google statistics of improving businesses performance through the use of internet, she noted that as at 2017, there was a rapid 60 per cent migration of businesses to the internet, while every millisecond, people surf the internet to look for solutions, answers and ideas, thus, making it imperative that advertising practitioners update themselves for sustainable knowledge driven services to their clients.

The two day workshop scheduled for 15 and 16 August in Lagos, according to the statement, is mandatory for all practitioners inducted from 2013 till date, as well as those due for upgrading. Induction will also take place on the second day of the training workshop.

The statement noted further that all practitioners should avail themselves of relevant information by visiting the APCON website for detailed registration requirements.
