An indigenous company that is into French fries production, Belfrites, has launched in Ikorodu area of Lagos State to create a local market and patronage for French fries and also boost the economy of the state.

According to a statement, the the Chief Executive Officer, Belfrites, Prince Akitoye, said the company which is a subsidiary of Berlag Investment Nigeria Limited is into production of French fries popularly known as potato fries.

He explained that Belfrites was established as part of his efforts to contribute to the nation’s quest for viable economy by discouraging importation and providing jobs opportunities for the unemployed.

“The idea of producing French fries here in Nigeria was conceived to boost the local economy of the country and also discourage the importation of French fries from Belgium, Netherlands and some other neighbouring countries,” Akitoye said.

While explaining the quality of the product and the reason Nigerians need to patronise Belfrites, Akintoye revealed that the products from the company are affordable and 100 per cent natural.

He also assured Lagosians that the French fries from the company could compete favourably with the ones being imported to the country.

The Director and the Chief Operating Officer, Belfrites, Mr Odiri Asagba, described the product as top notch, nutritious, price competitive and that the French fries being produced by the company would flourish in the market and compete favourably with its counterparts.
