Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Sambo has said that no administration in Nigeria’s history has invested in infrastructure like Major General Muhammadu Buhari’s (retd.) presidency.

The minister said this during a tour of Lagos State’s intra-city rail project on Friday in Lagos.

According to Sambo, the administration had underscored the importance of infrastructure by creating what is called the presidential development infrastructure funds.

He said, “I have mixed feelings, I am impressed with everything I saw and the reason I said mixed feelings is because we have a lot to do.  Unfortunately, the things we have to do are not only for the ministry of transportation.

“Getting down at Ijora, we saw how bad the road is, so we are going to talk to our brothers and sisters in the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing.”

Underscoring the importance of infrastructural development, Sambo hailed the Buhari administration for breaking new grounds in this regard.

He added, “After infrastructure, it is infrastructure and infrastructure again, it has no end. Remember the history of man, how he lived in a cage. It hasn’t stopped us from building houses of different kinds.

“With increasing knowledge and technology, infrastructure also improves, infrastructure is the bedrock of life so there is no end to it.

“No administration in this country has invested in infrastructure like the Buhari Government, even our enemies admit that, that’s the reason they’ve decided to generate problems of insecurities here and there.”

Sambo said operations would not commence on the new train station immediately due to government’s sensitivity towards the ongoing plight of the abducted Kaduna train victims.
