Simba TVS, a prominent provider of mobility solutions in Nigeria, has been honoured with the ‘African Brand of the Year 2023’ award for its commitment to supporting and empowering Nigerian women through the ‘Queen Riders Programme’.

A statement said the award was presented to the company at the Future Women Conference 2023, organised by the Women in Africa for Transformation Initiative, and held at the University of Lagos.

“The Queen Riders programme, an initiative aimed at empowering underrepresented women in Nigeria’s growing commercial transportation industry, was the key factor behind Simba TVS receiving this recognition,” it stated.

During the event, the Queen of Ile Ife, Olori Aderonke Ogunwusi, expressed her commendation for Simba TVS, acknowledging the positive impact of the programme in transforming the lives of women.

Graced by such distinguished figures, the award ceremony celebrated Simba TVS’s efforts and achievements.

Upon receiving the award, the Business Head of Simba TVS, Mr Mahendra Pratap, spoke on the significance of women’s empowerment in the growth and development of society.

He noted that the programme was built on four pillars which were opportunity, development, empowerment, and independence.

Through these pillars, he said, the programme had successfully enriched the lives and livelihoods of numerous women across different regions of the country.

Pratap said, “We firmly believe that by empowering women, we not only transform their lives but also contribute to the growth and development of Nigeria. We strive to ensure that women have the confidence, skills, and support they need to succeed in any endeavour they choose.”

“Through the Queen Riders programme, Simba TVS provides training for women in vehicle riding and repairs, mentorship, and access to financing. The programme has enabled marginalised women who were once excluded from the formal economy to become entrepreneurs and leaders in their communities.”
