As part of its continued tour of the Yoruba land, Goldberg Lager’s brand executives made a visit to the home of the traditional ruler of the Owo people, the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye.

The Olowo of Owo received the representatives of the brand with a warm welcome on Tuesday, the 24th of September. The visit coincides with the ongoing Igodo Festival, a yearly staple of the Owo people and one in which Goldberg supports.

The festival which dates back to 600 years is held annually in September to honour Queen Oronsen, a mythical wife of Rerengejen. During the festival, the incumbent Olowo of Owo and high chiefs of Owo Kingdom dress like women with coral beads, beaded gowns, and plaited hair.

It’s a beautiful celebration of the culture of the locals and Goldberg has continued its support for the traditional values of the people by once again throwing its weight behind this festival.

Earlier in the year, the Olowo spoke of the Owo people and the importance of the festival saying, “Owo as a kingdom is a very cultural society. Our culture, festivals, and traditions are very unique to us. We will promote everything. The Igogo Festival particularly will be well packaged. In the area of cultural tourism, our people will find sustenance.”

Following the relaunch of Goldberg Lager in August, the brand has set out to spread the message of the all-new Goldberg. As part of this remarkable campaign, brand representatives have visited various traditional rulers including the Oba of Lagos, the Alaafin of Oyo, the Ooni of Ife and now the Olowo of Owo.

Speaking on the royal visit, the Goldberg brand Manager, Olufunmilayo Ogunbodede said – “We know how important the festival is to the people of Owo. It’s a huge honour to be part of this and to be able to bring the all-new Goldberg to the palace of the Olowo. Goldberg will always be a part of the south-western culture and we take great pride in supporting the Igogo Festival.”

The all-new Goldberg Lager, has now been reformulated for a greater tasting experience. Also adorned with the image of the talking drum, the new bottle features a new crown cork, a motif design on its label as well as two beautifully designed medallions that speak to the excellent craftsmanship of the brand. All of these new aesthetic features powerfully reflects the stature and stance of Goldberg as the market leader.
