The Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN), has postponed its 46th annual general meeting in Asaba, Delta State as a result of the aborted Air Peace flight conveying over forty members of the body, 789marketing can authoritatively report.
The AAAN AGM, which should have kicked off today Thursday 11th July 2019 to Saturday 13th July 2019, was called off because the Air Peace flight that was carrying members such as X3M CEO, Steve Babaeko, ad czar and founder of STB McCann, Sir Steve Omojafor, Idiare Atimimo, Lanre Alabi, and others could not land at the Asaba airport after three attempts.
Speaking to the AAAN President, Ikechi Odigbo over the unfortunate incident, he said, “My brother, the air peace plane tried to land thrice in Asaba and failed due to bad gear. I understand the landing gear in Asaba airport were not adequate to enable the plane land. Thankfully, the pilot aborted and flew them back to Lagos with much turbulence,” he said.
Odigbo further told us that “All other flights to Asaba and Benin were subsequently cancelled by the airline. We thank God for saving us from what would have been a disaster for the advertising industry.”
He said, organizing committee is deliberating on next steps for rescheduling the AGM. We bless god,” he add.
Prior to the incident, Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa had expected to be the special guest of honour for the three-day-long event.

According to the Chairman of the Events Planning Committee, Doyin Adewumi, the Association has come to a decision to invite distinguished senior members of the Association to lead the discourse on the theme, adding that the impact of the discourse will be beneficial to delegates and members of the Association.

Industry experts expected to be in attendance include Jimi Awosika, Vice Chairman, Troyka Holdings. The panelists at the event include, Steve Babaeko, Group CEO, X3M Ideas, Chizor Malize, CEO, Brandzone LLC and Igbo Amadi-Obi, CEO, BBDO.
