• TPT International resigns from NB brief last month

Lucrative Nigerian Breweries corporate public relations account has moved to the upwardly mobile and vibrant Maryland based PR outfit, Integrated Indigo Limited.

The PR firm is being run by Bolaji Abimbola, a budding PR expert, mass communication graduate from Ibadan Polytechnic and Pan African University alumni among others.

Abimbola’s led PR firm warehoused the well-paid business after a competitive pitch according to a reliable source from Nigerian Breweries.

It was speculated in some quarters that, the arrival of the current Corporate Affairs Director, Sade Morgan at the brewery giant had influenced the destination of the brief; however 789marketing.com.ng investigations reveal that Integrated Indigo won the business on merit.

It is gathered that Indigo had previously worked with Mrs. Morgan at Nigerian Bottling Company when she was the communication director at the soft drink bottler but her influence came too little to swing the brief, our reporter gathered.

Nigerian Breweries corporate PR brief had domiciled at TPT International in the last 4 years with the Tokunbo Modupe’s owned PR outfit midwiving the brewery giant’s beer academic project in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital for 3 years.

789marketing.com.ng gathered that TPT was discontented over the Nigerian Breweries’ handling of the process hence it decision to turn in its resignation letter at the end of last month (April 2019)  having been paid in full its retainer for the month by Nigerian Breweries.

Sources in Nigerian Breweries stated that TPT had delivered well on its brief to the company and the decision to part company is not unconnected with deliverables.

“We are very pleased with TPT’s works and our decision to end working relationship is devoid of friction and or bad-blood,” he said.

On the allegation that Nigerian Breweries could have undermined rules to favour certain agencies, this source said that Nigerian Breweries cannot afford to cut corners in hiring agencies and suppliers.

According to him, “We have a structure that cannot be circumvented, therefore any allegation of unprofessional ism is unfounded,” he told 789marketing.com.ng while pleaded anonymity.

When our reporter contacted Indigo’s chief executive, Mr. Abimbola for confirmation, he neither confirms nor refutes the claim.

Nevertheless, an indication that Indigo had netted the brief manifested yesterday Tuesday May 7, 2019 when the PR was caught managing Nigerian Breweries Pre-AGM media parley, the brief, TPT had managed for the last 4 years.

It would be recalled that the Nigerian Breweries’ products PR resides with BHM.
