Advertising expert, John Akuwudike has pitched tent with Immersion Marketing Strategies (IMS) ltd., a full-service integrated marketing communications agency as its Chief Executive Officer.

In his new role, Akuwudike will, among other things, be responsible for managing IMS’ overall operations as well as driving profitability, managing company organizational structure, strategy, etc.

He takes over the role from Mr. Dan Esiekpe who moves on to take care of higher responsibilities in the IMS group.

Before joining IMS, John was the Consultant Operations Director for SSB Africa.

Prior to that, he was at 141 Worldwide Limited where he spent over eleven years, joining as the Associate Director – Brand Management & Trade/Channel Marketing in 2008 and rising through the ranks to the position of Business Director in 2013.

However, he started his career at STB-McCann where he cut his teeth as an Account Brand Manager between 1997 and 2000 before he moved to join DDB Lagos as the Account Director, thereafter.

Over the years, the brand strategist and business leader has built a reputation for excellence and garnered experience working on local and international brands across different sectors, and covering different end markets in West Africa.

Akuwudike has led agency teams across different functions including brands and trade/channel operations, market insight, and strategy among others.

John holds a Master’s in Communication and Language Arts from the University of Ibadan and also a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from Abia State University.
