A leading insecticide brand in Nigeria, Mortein Nigeria has announced a renowned thespian, Kate Henshaw as it new brand ambassador.

The announcement was in Lagos a brief event where Ms. Henshaw was presented to the media.

According to the External Communications and Partnership Lead, Sub-sahara Africa at Reckitt, Cassandra Uzo-Ogbugh on her Facebook post, she said, “It’s been months in planning, and finally it’s official, Mortein Nigeria has a new brand ambassador in the person of Kate Henshaw

“It is our pleasure to have someone who is passionate about social causes and positive societal change as Kate on board this initiative”, she said

Mortein is championing the Fight to End Malaria in Nigeria. This campaign has received goodwill from ordinary Nigerians.

Uzo-Ogbugh added “We had an estimated 160,000 deaths recorded in 2020, when malaria is totally preventable.  Pregnant women and children are also the most at risk. Let’s start the conversation, protection and prevention because these are key in the Fight to End Malaria.”

Sub-Saharan Africa has been attributed to carrying the heaviest malaria burden, accounting for estimated 95% of all malaria cases and 96% of all deaths in 2020. In Nigeria, 160,000 deaths were recorded within the year.

Protection is key in the prevention of Malaria, hence Mortein Nigeria launched the Mortein Fight to End Malaria campaign to drive awareness and educate citizens on Malaria prevention.

“We have also taken this fight a notch higher with the signing of top Nigerian celebrity actress Kate Henshaw as the new Brand Ambassador for Mortein Nigeria. In this role, Kate will champion the cause and drive conversations as we aim to achieve a malaria free nation,” said Uzo-Ogbigh
