In continuation of its philosophy to encourage creativity at early stage in life, the well-loved fun fruit drink brand, Yojus has announced the second edition of its annual painting contest tagged Yojus Painting Star with 60 pupils in Lagos and Port Harcourt primary schools short listed for the grand finale.
Targeting children between the ages of 6 and 12 years in primary school, the competition aims to encourage creativity and thinking amongst children and provide them with a platform to express themselves.
Recent statistic have shown that there is a huge decline in students particularly those in primary schools who want to study fine art and painting hence the Yojus’ desire to prepare these young ones for the industry such as advertising, creative art and allied sector.
Commenting on the annual painting contest, the Brand Manager of Yojus, Foluke Makinde stated that, “Children love to express themselves and one of the ways is through painting. We have just taken this to the next level with the Yojus Painting Star which provides them a medium to showcase their talent, get noticed, appreciated and rewarded. We hope that this contest would inspire them to think creatively and differently as they grow.”
Makinde disclosed that there is a tremendous increase in participation for the contest this year. We received more than 5, 000 entries from 250 schools in Lagos & Port Harcourt. A total of 60 students have been shortlisted to compete in the final contest. According to her, ‘’the participants are expected to translate this year’s theme, “Our Beautiful World” into paintings using watercolour to win several exciting prizes. We are making Yojus Painting Star contest bigger and better every year. And it is gradually becoming one of the most sort after contest among school children”.
One of the anticipated highlights of the contest is the live painting which would be done by the children at the venue. The contesting students will be asked to draw and paint at the venue, after which the first, second and third place winners will be determined by a panel of three Judges. Aside the competition other students at the event would also be inspired to take part and express themselves through several fun activities and entertainment.
