Babatunde Irukera, New DG CPC

Following the recent federal government new appointments of the heads of parastatals, departments and agencies of government, the newly appointed helmsman at the Consumer Protection Council-CPC, Babatunde Irukera, has insisted to be addressed as chief executive officer.

It would be recalled that Mr. Irukera’s predecessors, Mrs. Ify Umenyi and Dr. Dupe Atoki had been addressed as director general of the agency.

In a release made available to 789Marketing from CPC, tagged important information on the designation of CPC chief executive said that “Please be informed that the correct designation of the Chief Executive Officer of the Consumer Protection Council (CPC) is the Director General.”

In furtherance to the new directive, the statement stated “The Council’s enabling Act, the Consumer Protection Council Act, Chapter C25, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, and the letter of appointment of Mr. Babatunde Irukera, its new helmsman, by the Federal Government, designates the new Chief Executive as Director General.”

According to a prominent stakeholder in the industry, who pleaded anonymity, some of the new DG’s actions are pointed to the fact that he may be heading on the wrong path, if he is not properly counseled.”
