Frontline and foremost marketing and communications Amazon, Nkiru Olumide-Ojo, has been appointed a judge for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Lions, at the 2024 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

The Executive Head Africa Regions Corporate Communications Marketing and Corporate Social Impact of Standard Bank Group joins other global experts and leaders in the IMC industry to adjudicate works tailored towards the advancement of sustainability across the globe.

Billed to hold from 17-21 June 2024, the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is a global event for those working in creative communications, advertising, and related fields. It is considered the largest gathering of the advertising and creative communications industry.

Taking to her LinkedIn page to announce the appointment, she wrote “Such an honour to be appointed as a Judge in the 2024 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, even more so to be judging in the Sustainable Development Goals category.

“Excited already about the Bright minds and work I’d be meeting … Looking forward to the upcoming festival and the opportunity to witness the best of creativity in action,” she wrote.

Olumide-Ojo leads a diverse team across African countries to deliver business objectives through Brand Marketing, Corporate Communications and Corporate Social Investment Management for the Standard Bank Group. Prior to that, she has worked at CMC Connect Burson-Marsteller Nigeria, Virgin Atlantic Nigeria, Airtel, Forte Oil, among others.

Outside her professional engagement, Olumide-Ojo is an author, columnist and development speaker. An advocate of women’s issues, Nkiru is co-founder of The Lighthouse Network, a social development initiative with programmes geared towards empowering women in professional career and entrepreneurship, and also preparing young women for work place through a formal mentoring structure.
In September 2017, Nkiru Olumide-Ojo’s book titled ‘The Pressure Cooker: Lessons from a Woman at Work’ was published by Narrative Landscape Press. The book is a culmination of Nkiru’s weekly column in Business Day newspaper, which focused on issues related to women and the workplace. The 128-page, nine-chapter book mirrors prospects, exploits and challenges of women in the professional environment, offering pragmatic insights into how women can be successful in their careers, while also maintaining a decent home front.

She holds a master’s degree in Strategic Marketing Management from Kingston University, Surrey in London, UK. She bagged her postgraduate and first degree in Biological Science at the University of Calabar, Nigeria. She is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and Member of the UK Chartered Institute of Marketing United Kingdom
