Following the delay in actualizing its proposed plan to change its name from Outdoor to Out-of-Home Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN), George Onwujiariri, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Mario Sanctus Ltd, has made some clarification on why there has been some delay to its actualization. He explained that the delay is caused by the systemic due process associated with changing of business with the Corporate Affairs Commission, but assured the public that the rebranding move is in the offing.

Onwujiariri explained that the association has concluded all plans internally towards the rebranding, but added that it is being held back due to the delay from the Commission. He revealed that the acronym is still going to be OAAN but would be known as Out-of-Home instead of Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria, which is just the only little change in the process.

“The process of changing name takes time because it has to go through the Corporate Affairs Commission first. Before going to CAC, the law requires that there should be an Annual General Meeting (AGM) or Extraordinary Annual General Meeting (EAGM) to rectify that. We had an EGM sometime last year where we voted unanimously towards changing the name and rebranding. With that assertion, we now have to approach the CAC, but they are driving so slowly which is what is delaying us until we get all the certificates and clarifications from them. We cannot go public with that, but it is in the pipeline,” he said.
