The Open Government Partnership (OGP) Nigeria has announced plans to partner which the Akin Fadeyi Foundation (AFF) to further strengthen the Organization’s unrelenting efforts towards raising citizen voice-action for accountable public institutionsthrough its grassroots Pan-Nigeria campaign against retail corruption tagged; CORRUPTION,  NOT IN MY COUNTRY.

In a statement released by the National Coordinatorof the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Nigeria and Special Adviser to the President on Justice Reform, Barrister Juliet Ibekaku-Nwagwuat the recently launched Partnership for best practices between Akin Fadeyi Foundation and The Nigeria Police,she said:

“We are delighted to announce a partnership with the Akin Fadeyi Foundation on its “Corruption, Not In My Country Project”. This grassroots anti-corruption advocacy project is an important one, particularly at a time like this when the Nigerian Government and its people are collectively declaring war against corruption. We believe that, the “Corruption, Not In My Country Project” will empower citizens to imbibe openness in their business dealings and to demand accountability from Government”.

Barrister Ibekaku-Nwagwu added further that, “Our commitment to being part of the Akin Fadeyi Foundation’s anti-corruption effort is part of our multi-stakeholder approach to creating a socio-economic environment guided by Open Governance principle.  We also believe that with the successes recorded so far in the implementation of the Whistle-Blower policy, supportedby Nigerians, a citizen-led anti-corruption campaign such as that championed by the Akin Fadeyi Foundation will also succeed. OGP Nigeria will continue to support AFF and other like-minded organizations committed to building a healthy and vibrant socio-economic ecosystem”.

While responding, Executive Director, Akin Fadeyi Foundation, Mr. Akin Fadeyi said, “This is another exciting news for us at Akin Fadeyi Foundation. Working with Open Governance Partnership Nigeria is a huge milestone for us and we will continuously deploy our efforts to continuously promote accountability and transparency in service delivery.
