Barely a month after winning the Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN) Poster Awards’ Grand Prix award for its Long Throat campaign, Pepsi has again clinched the coveted award of Iconic Brand of the year 2015 in the soft drink category at the 2016 Nigeria Brand Awards held in Lagos last week.

Insight Communication, Seven-Up Company Plc’s creative agency won the Best Campaign of the year for the Pepsi Long Throat campaign.

These latest awards have reaffirmed Pepsi as a leading carbonated soft drink in the Nigerian market that refreshes consumers across demographics.

On the night of glamour and glitz, StarTimes, a paytv brand defeated DStv to clinch PayTV company of the year, Cornerstone Insurance emerged insurance firm of the year, Deep Dive Research and Brooks and Blake were honoured with research and PR agencies of the year respectively.

Apart from rewarding businesses that have performance well in the area of customer service, the Nigeria Brand Awards also honoured industry practitioners who have been outstanding in the year under review. Dr. Phil Osagie, founder/chief executive office of JSP Communication was honoured with the PR Icon of the decade while Mr. Charles Chijide, former Pressident of OAAN won the Outdoor Icon of the decade award.

Insight Publicis won Best Campaign of the year for ‘Pepsi long throat press’ campaign and Media Specialties won the Best campaign of the year, automobile category for the Toyota press category..

It was also the turn of Otunba Gbenga Daniel to reap his reward for his philanthropic gesture. The Chairman of Kresta Laurel and former Executive Governor of Ogun State won the Pillar of Engineering award of the year, Mr. Yinka Adepoju was honoured with Oustanding Outdoor Personality of the decade award while Akin Adelegan, CEO of Advertange Limited won the Outdoor Personality of the Year award, Mobile LED category for digital mobile innovation.

The Project Director of the Nigeria Brand Awards, Adesanya Abidemi, who spoke with 789MARKETING after the award ceremony thanked all stakeholders in the brand and marketing industry for their support to the Nigeria Brand Award and promises that future editions will continue to raise the bar of excellence, innovation and professionalism in the brand industry in Nigeria.

He encouraged others who did not win this year to put in more effort in the area of innovation and professionalism to be able to win the coveted award in future

The Pepsi Long Throat campaign was launched late last year to introduce the 60cl PET bottle. The 360 degree campaign captivated the market from start to finish by breaking new grounds with an innovative digital kick-off and disruptive communication which created huge consumer buzz and excitement.
