MTV today announced that Tate McRae has been added to the performance lineup for the “MTV EMAs” 2022, hosted by Rita Ora and Taika Waititi and broadcasting LIVE from Düsseldorf, Germany on Sunday, 13 November. She will join previously announced performers SPINALL, Nasty C, Ava Max, Bebe Rexha, David Guetta, Gorillaz, Lewis Capaldi, Muse, Stormzy, GAYLE, OneRepublic, Kalush Orchestra, and Äyanna.

Rising West Philadelphia rapper Armani White will perform during the EMA Red Carpet show, hosted by MTV UK’s Jack Saunders and Becca Dudley, broadcasting live on MTV globally and streaming on MTVEMA.com. MTV UK’s Harriet Rose will serve as host for the EMA “Backstage Pass” show airing across MTV EMA and global brand social accounts.

“The MTV EMAs provide a unique platform for global music cultures to intersect and this is further exemplified with the addition of Tate and Armani to a performance lineup that already boasts a strong African representation. We are confident the intriguing emotive, intimate alternative pop sound of Tate and the ‘happy hood’ trademark style of Armani will be instant hits amongst African audiences,” said Monde Twala, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Paramount Africa.

Returning to the EMA stage, Calgary native singer/songwriter/dancer Tate McRae has become the artist to watch with over 3.2 billion career streams, over 700 million video views, a #1 Top 40 hit and multiple #1 dance hits. Tate’s #1 multi-platinum-selling single, “you broke me first” has over 1.4 billion streams worldwide.  Tate has collaborated with Khalid on their track “working,” DJ Regard & Troye Sivan on their #1 Dance hit “You,” blackbear’s “u love u” and Jeremy Zucker on her single “that way.” She capped off 2021 with the release of “feel like shit” which currently has nearly 90 million streams worldwide

Profound, yet buoyantly energetic, Armani White wants to trademark happy hood music. With a nimble flow, quick-fire flexes and a playful nod to a pop superstar, “BILLIE EILISH.” is a feel-good theme song laced with irony and a trace of menace. The single has earned TikTok ubiquity and over 260 million global streams since its May release. Last fall, he continued to elevate with Things We Lost In The Fire, a heartfelt EP that addressed personal tragedy with unflinching transparency. In mid-2022, Armani parlayed the momentum of the EP and “BILLIE EILISH.” into a deal with Def Jam Records.

Actor, singer and global superstar David Hasselhoff, German-raised model and influencer Leonie Hanne, and Canadian singer-songwriter Lauren Spencer Smith have been added to the line-up of presenters at the “MTV EMAs.”  Previously announced presenters include Julian Lennon, Leomie Anderson and Sam Ryder.
