After Rihanna’s jaw-dropping performance in 2023, Usher will perform during this year’s celebrated half-time show.

It’s almost here! DStv is bringing the 58th annual showdown between the top American Football teams. The 2024 American National Football League’s Super Bowl takes place this month and will be broadcast live, exclusively, across Africa on ESPN (DStv ch. 218) and ESPN2 (DStv ch. 219) from 12:30 AM on Monday, February 12, 2024.

The game is available across all packages from Yanga upwards, one of the most celebrated events on the U.S. sporting calendar, the annual championship game that will see the league’s top franchises competing to hold the coveted Vince Lombardi Trophy. Extending beyond sport, the Super Bowl is a truly global cultural event, with high-entertainment value accompanying a nail-biting game.

Whether this will be your first time watching the Super Bowl or 58th time, here are a few things you need to know:

Who will be performing?

The Superbowl will continue its legacy of hosting unrivalled musical performances. Reba McEntire will perform the national anthem, and Andra Day will perform her “Lift Every Voice and Sing” ahead of the game. Post Malone will perform “America the Beautiful,” and Usher will perform the celebrated halftime show. View the trailer for the halftime show here.

Where is the 2024 Super Bowl LVIII being played?

This will be the first time the Super Bowl will be played in Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, which opened in 2020. It is also the first time the big game will be played in the state of Nevada at all, in the city synonymous with the world’s biggest casinos, world-leading entertainment, neon signs and Elvis Presley fandom.

Who is playing?

The reigning champions, Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will once again compete in the NFL’s championship match as the two football teams each won their respective conference title games this past weekend. These two titan franchises last competed against each other four years ago, with the Chiefs claiming victory.

Which Quarterbacks lead the competing teams?

The Chiefs are led by star QB Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce, who has been celebrated widely in the media this year following his emphatic on-field performances as well as his relationship with singer Taylor Swift.

The 49ers are led by quarterback Brock Purdy, who has delivered consistently impressive stats and clutch comebacks this season, as well as running back Christian McCaffrey, whose stellar season so far has broken franchise and NFL records.
