The Oyo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OYSAA) had in recent time observed the irresponsible manner through which campaign posters of political parties are being pasted around the cities.

It will be recalled that the Agency about two months ago informed stakeholders and the general public of its determined effort to control the practice of Outdoor Advertising in Oyo State in line with the established Signage and Advertisement Agency Law 2012.

The Director General of the Agency Pastor ‘Yinka Adepoju in a statement from his office said that it is indeed a sad affair that some political aspirants and other stakeholders have continually flouted the extant law of the Agency by pasting campaign posters indiscriminately on fence walls, Highway Roundabouts, Public Buildings, Bridges and Monuments. This ignoble act he claimed aimed at provoking the Agency is not limited to campaign posters alone but illegal billboards unapproved banners, branded vehicles and other advertisement materials.

While cautioning against the habit of debasing the already sanitized environment with illegal posters, the Director General said discipline must be maintained even in the face of politicking. He condemned in its entirety the lawless act whereby politicians in an attempt to promote or publicize themselves and their parties will jettisoned the laid down rules and regulations guiding the practice of Outdoor advertising in the State.

He maintained that his responsible Agency under the visionary leader, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi will for no reason shelve its responsibilities but henceforth identify such defaulters no matter how highly placed and apply necessary sanctions as may be deemed fit, claiming that such offenders will be prosecuted by the State Mobile Courts in addition to paying appropriate fines.

He further appealed to individuals, Schools, Religious Bodies, Filling Stations, Corporate Organizations, and Advertising Practitioners who have Signage Structures in any part of the State and have not settled their 2018 bills should henceforth fulfill their obligations to Government as the Agency shall soon embark on massive enforcement of affected Structures across the State.
