The palace of the paramount ruler of Oyo, His Royal Majesty, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III was lit with anticipation and excitement as Goldberg, a brand from the stable of Nigerian Breweries Plc brought Fuji t’o Bam quarter final to the ancient city on Friday, July 15th, 2016.

Tayo Adelaja, Public Affairs Manager, West and Mid-West, Nigerian Breweries Plc; said: ‘We have brought Goldberg Fuji t’o Bam to Oyo, and we cannot do anything without the Kabiyesi’s consent. It is in this regard that we have come to pay homage to the throne.’

The Goldberg team was ushered in to the palace with prayers and welcome chants by the palace chiefs before they took turns to prostrate before the Kabiyesi.

The royal father thereafter gave thanks to the ancestors for bringing the Goldberg team safely to the palace and most importantly to Oyo town. Kabiyesi gave his support for the Fuji concert at Durbar Stadium, assuring the visiting team of a safe time in the ancient city. He commended the entire Nigerian Breweries delegate for the company’s diverse and relentless efforts targeted at giving back to the society. Alaafin particularly referred to Goldberg Fuji t’o Bam as an initiative targeted at seeking and empowering young Fuji talents in local communities like Oyo. His words: “This is the kind of scheme we expect corporate organizations to organize. Its impact on the young people on the street is easily feasible. And it indirectly helps the society to reduce the rate of unemployment among the youth particularly in this part of the country”

Oba Adeyemi implored the team to sustain the programme as it helps the society in giving hope to those budding talents seeking help on the streets and that the initiative could ignite their aspiration to become stars in their chosen career.

The Goldberg brand team thereafter presented bottles of the Lager beer to the Alaafin, who officially endorsed the brand as well as its Fuji t’o Bam initiative.

Funso Ayeni, Senior brand manager, Mainstream brands, Nigerian Breweries, gave the vote of thanks on behalf of the team by showering praises on the Alaafin for the warm reception accorded them at the palace as well as in the city of Oyo. He assured Kabiyesi that Goldberg would sustain the Fuji t’o Bam as a way of empowering the youths, and as a way of appreciation, the team presented the palace with Goldberg Ankara attires and crates of Goldberg Lager Beer.
