Legend Extra Stout, Nigeria’s premium stout brand has announced plans to celebrate Nigeria’s legends, dead or alive who have distinguished themselves in their different fields of endeavor.
Emmanuel Agu, Marketing Manager, Gulder, 33, Life, More and Stout Category – Nigerian Breweries Plc., disclosed this at the second wave of the highly successful Legend Taste and Tell night, held in Lagos over the weekend. He stated that by celebrating legends, the brand wants to send a strong message to Nigerians and its consumers to strive to be distinctive and excellent in what they do.
He said: “Today we are celebrating great men and women who have strong distinctive qualities just like you have in Legend Extra Stout. Legend Extra stout has a unique bitter taste, thick long lasting foam head and it is fully brewed. These are the unique features that distinguish the brand from other stout brands. And this is what makes it acceptable to consumers everywhere. So today in Lagos and other locations we will go to after today, we will be celebrating legends in those locations.”
Mr. Agu said the Legend brand is a strong supporter of excellence hence the need to celebrate people who have impacted positively on society. Among the legends celebrated that night were the late Afrobeat king, Fela Anikolapo-Kuti, Nobel laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka, and retired footballer, Kanu Nwankwo, among others.
The Legend Extra Stout Taste and Tell night which was held at Kuwait Field, Egbeda Lagos, introduced the ‘Express Yourself’ segment where consumers are picked at random to talk about distinctive features they think could qualify them to be named among legends. Those who were adjudged by the crowd to have ‘Expressed Themselves’ coherently, won prizes ranging from a refrigerator to a generator.
Two highly-rated artistes, Kcee and Harrysong were on hand to thrill the crowd to their hit tunes. Also, the Eyo cultural troupe was on the ground to add spice to the fun.
In the Legend ‘Taste and Tell’ tradition, consumers were picked through a raffle draw to come and taste and tell the difference between Legend Extra Stout and two other stout brands. Sylvester Obinna, Godwin Obaike and Daniel Samuel emerged winners having been able to correctly identify Legend Extra stout. While Obinna went home with a generator, Obaike and Samuel each won a refrigerator for which they were grateful to the Legend brand.
The event marked the kick-off of the “Wave 2” of the Legend Taste and Tell campaign. The unique consumer reward initiative will touch 10 other locations across the country.
