The Management and Staff of Channels Television have announced the passing away of Chukwuma Onuekwusi, the TV’s State House Correspondent today, Tuesday 23rd May 2017.

He died at a private hospital in Abuja, in the early hours of today, the news television station said.

He has covered several beats on Channels Television before he was seconded to cover the Presidential Villa as the State House correspondent.

An excellent reporter who joined Channels Television from 1998, he showed great passion for his job.

A perfect gentleman and a great family man, Mr Onuekwusi was a graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

He also worked at the Imo Broadcasting Corporation, Owerri. He died at the age of 55 and is survived by his wife and children.

The management however wishes his gentle soul rest in peace.

Meanwhile, in January 20, 2012, Channels TV also lost a reporter, Enenche Akogwu in Kano attack by Boko Haram.

The 31-year-old reporter was shot by unidentified gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect, outside the Kano state Government House while in the line of duty.

Akogwu graduated Benue State University in 2004 and joined Channels Television as a reporter in the nation’s capital city of Abuja, two years ago. He was later made the station’s correspondent in Kano.

Enenche Akogwu was covering the troubled northern region before he met his end.
