The Chief Executive Officer of Access Corporation, Herbert Wigwe, has said that the talents in Nigeria’s creative and tech industry must be leveraged to achieve the drive towards Nigeria’s economic diversification.
According to a statement, Wigwe spoke at a press conference held to herald the forthcoming Africa Creative Market and Global Tech Africa summit billed to be held later this year.
The two events are products of partnerships between the Herbert Onyewumbu Wigwe Foundation, Ascend Studios, Future Map Foundation, and the National Information Technology Development Agency.
Addressing the press conference, Wigwe described Nigerians as some of the most brilliant minds in all spheres of human endeavor.
He said the partnership was a platform to help nurture talents in the creative and tech industries.
“Nigeria is made up largely of young people. We have 65 per cent of our population below 35 years. If they are not empowered. It is a big problem,” Wigwe said.
On his part, the Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency, Kashifu Abdullahi, said the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani has mandated the agency to ensure that at least three million tech talents are trained within the next four years.
