The Executive Governor of Lagos, His Excellency Babajide Sanwo-Olu wins Consumer Rights Advocate Governor of the year, joins other dignitaries at the just concluded consumers value awards to commend the organizers of the award.
Delivering the governor’s remark, Mrs Adetutu Sosanya, Permanent Secetary Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperative, said he commended BrandXchange for the hard work that has gone into putting together an event of this significance, an initiative geared towards protecting the interest of consumers through advocacy and raising awareness on Consumer rights.
Whilst acknowledging the award as the first governor to be bestowed with such recognition, he said that the state government recognized the need to put in place an agency that would be charged with the responsibility of ensuring that people are not shortchanged or exploited and receive the satisfaction expected from the goods and services purchased.
The Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Office of Nigeria Communications Commission, Professor UMAR GARBA DANBATTA, who also got a special recognition for the excellent programmes of the commission in ensuring that Consumers of telecommunications are satisfied commended the BrandXchange team for the initiative. According to him, The Consumers Value Awards attest to the power of consumer influence and the significant role consumers play in shaping the business landscape. The Consumers’ continued support and trust in brands have not gone unnoticed, and as such, this event is an opportunity to celebrate consumers discerning choices and the businesses that have consistently strived to earn your loyalty.

The theme of this years’ Consumers Value Awards “Consumer Satisfaction Index” speaks volumes in today’s business ecosystem. Satisfying customer wants and needs is a top priority for any business, because satisfied customers are more profitable and loyal as they are more likely to spread positive feedback by word of mouth. This makes the Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) a must-have metric to continuously keep in front of the mind.

He went further to state that Consumer satisfaction is the back bone of any business, because it ensures not only the success of the business but the sustainability as well. The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority as the regulator of the aviation industry places so much value on customer satisfaction and protection as the rights of the consumers for full value for money paid, compensation for delays, damage &loss of baggage, etc. are all spelt out in the Civil Aviation Act. The Authority over the years have been playing active roles and will continue to play some in the strict enforcement and compliance of these right.
