The recently concluded Life in My City Arts Festival (LIMCAF) in partnership with MTN Foundation was a mix of creativity, cultural exploration, and somber reflections. The art festival held in Enugu with special award categories for secondary school students, females and persons with disabilities. Here are some highlights from the festival;

The Exhibition

The festival started with an exhibition of artworks from the top 100 artists. The artworks on display ranged from textile arts to sculptures, woodwork, drawing, paintings, ceramics and digital media.

The Cultural Dance

The cultural dance performances from the Akalaka cultural dance troupe were another highlight from the festival. The dance troupe serenaded the audience with beautiful performances to depict different Nigerian cultures.

Performance by Dike Chukwumerije

The thrilling and thought-provoking spoken word performance by Dike Chukwumerije was another highlight of the Life in My City Festival. His spoken word piece was a call to action for people to love their neighbours irrespective of colour, race, tribe or religion.

Award presentation to finalists

The presentation of award and cash prizes to 25 young artists including secondary school students and persons with disability was the climax of the festival. Eleven artists received consolation prizes, eight artists received endowed prizes from individual sponsors, the top six artists received cash prizes of N500,000, and the overall winner received a sum of one million naira.

The annual Life in My City Festival is a celebration of young talented artists around Nigeria. To date, over 1000 young artists have had the opportunity to showcase their artworks both home and abroad.
