Nigerian Breweries Plc, a brewery giant with several portfolios in alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages has concluded plans to introduce in the market a second line energy drink to compete with Fearless, Supa Komando, Predator and other valued brand energy drink brands, The Industry investigation reveals.

The new product (name withheld) would be launched on Saturday, November 5th, 2022 at Landmark in Oniru Lagops.

The biggest brewer in Nigeria already has Climax, a premium energy drink brand that is competing with Red Bull, Power Horse and Coca-Cola’s Monster.

The new addition is not unconnected with the vibrancy these valued energy drink brands have provided to the sub-segment of the market.

The sub-segment was created when Rite Foods introduced Fearless and give every consumer the right and privileges to consume energy drink without putting a hole on their pocket. Coca-Cola which already had Monster followed suit with the launch of Predator.

In 2021, Seven Up Bottling Company added more vigor to the market segment with the introduction of Supa Komando.

Since then, major players in the beverage industry have been eyeing the new valued energy drink segment, and the newest addition would the one from NB Plc scheduled to be launched on Saturday, November 5th, 2022.

Nigerian Breweries Plc is the pioneer and largest brewing Company in Nigeria and was incorporated in 1946 as “Nigerian Brewery Limited”.

In June 1949, the Company recorded a landmark when the first bottle of STAR lager beer rolled out of its Lagos Brewery bottling lines. In 1957, the company commissioned its second brewery in Aba and the name became “Nigerian Breweries Limited”.

 This was followed by Kaduna Brewery in 1963 and lbadan Brewery in 1982. Following the coming into effect of the Companies and Allied Matters Act in 1990, the name of the company was changed to “Nigerian Breweries Plc” to reflect its public limited liability status.
