The National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) has announced its forward-looking agenda aimed at expanding marketing horizons and reinforcing current endeavors to advance the marketing profession within the country. NIMN has revealed its strategic initiatives and plans for 2024 and beyond, aligned with its vision for growth and development in the field.

During a media parley held over the weekend, at the NIMN office in Lagos, Mr. Idorenyen Enang, President of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN), highlighted the Institute’s dedicated efforts over the past two years to elevate professional quality by forging strategic partnerships and engaging with key stakeholders both locally and globally.

In order to amplify ongoing endeavors, the President emphasized notable initiatives slated for the next five years, such as intensifying membership growth, fostering active participation, offering developmental opportunities to enhance member quality, involving students in shaping the future, and implementing a new curriculum in the upcoming year.

“The intended growth is premised on the foundational elements we have laid in the last two years and a testament to the value that our organization will bring to professionals and businesses in the marketing industry. We are committed to continuously expanding our membership base and providing a supportive community for all. As a mater of fact, we will operate an inclusive strategy that allows us focus of cross sectoral alliances with passion and interest clusters that serve the marketing discipline. For eg Hospitality, SMEs, Arts and Entertainment, The Academia, Sports , Health and Beauty amongst others. We aim to attract professionals serving in marketing capacities across these frontiers , bring them into the fold and also equip them for the tasks ahead in building not only businesses but the nation at large”.

The President affirmed the significant impact of their annual events on member development, highlighting three pivotal conferences held each year: the Marketing Students Conference, the Annual Marketing Conference & AGM, and the Marketing Educators Conference. These gatherings act as crucial platforms for knowledge exchange, networking, and collaborative efforts within the marketing industry. By convening experts, practitioners, and students, these events facilitate idea-sharing and the exploration of emerging trends.

Mr. Enang reiterated his unwavering dedication to nurturing member development in alignment with current trends. He revealed that the Institute has established strategic partnerships and affiliations with esteemed organizations including ARCON, CIM UK, Harley Reed, Sports Business Institute, and Lagos Business School. These alliances are intended to offer a wealth of expertise and resources, enriching the experiences of NIMN members.

Starting next year, the Institute plans to conduct bootcamps, masterclasses, and executive roundtables. These programs are designed to elevate the skills and knowledge of members, enabling them to remain at the forefront of an ever-evolving marketing landscape.

Regarding its constitutional mandate, the NIMN leader expressed firm determination to uphold its regulatory responsibilities aimed at ensuring the sustainability of the marketing industry.

He said: ” As the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN), we will serve as thought leaders and create advocacy channels to champion the interests of our members and the industry as a whole. We currently have an Amendment bill of the Act 25 of
2003 at the National Assembly, and it has gone through a first reading. This will help further strengthen the regulatory framework and enhance the efficacy of our Institute”.

The National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria serves as the overarching organization for all marketing professionals in Nigeria. Established by Act 25 of 2003, it holds the responsibility of upholding high standards of professionalism within the marketing industry.
