In recognition of the giant strides of the present leadership of the regulatory agency superintending advertising practice in Nigeria, foremost  advertising school, o2 academy, has honoured the Registrar/CEO, Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria(APCON), Dr. Lekan Fadolapo.

The APCON boss was honoured with the “Impact Award for Leadership” during his courtesy visit to the school. The occasion was witnessed by stakeholders in the marketing communications industry, students, faculty and the management board of the school.

Addressing a gathering of students of the school who had waited patiently for his arrival, Dr. Fadolapo recalled with nostalgia how he became a part of the ‘o2 academy story’ right from its conceptualization and take-off. He noted that the resilience, dedication and self-belief by the provost, Ozone Mbanefo, saw him through a journey he(Mbanefo) started in 2007.

Meanwhile, the APCON registrar has announced that graduates of the o2 academy would enjoy exemptions in the APCON professional certifications. He made the announcement during his presentation. He noted that the quality and value of the o2 academy education qualifies its graduates for such exemptions.

“I am happy to announce to you that, henceforth, graduates of 02 academy will be exempted from Part 1&2 of the APCON professional certification examinations. We understand the quality and value of  02 academy education and it is only appropriate to appreciate that and take steps to bring the school into our plans for the entire industry”

In a related development, the APCON CEO also announced the regulatory agency’s readiness to partner with the o2 academy in order to promote the creative works on display by the students. He disclosed this while on a facility tour of the school. While admiring the ingenuity and creativity of the students in the school, he promised to help facilitate a CSR brief for the academy, through the supervising ministry of APCON-Ministry of Information. He further explained that the brief will focus on national unity.

The occasion also afforded the students an opportunity to interact and share their thoughts with the amiable APCON boss who took time to explain critical issues affecting the integrated marketing communications(IMC) industry.
