As part of efforts to complement enforcement activities, the Lagos State Government Special Operations Team in charge of landed property has been deployed to the Lagos State Building Control Agency.

Speaking at the building agency’s head office, the General Manager, LASBCA, Gbolahan Oki, who received the leader of the team, said the task force would go a long way in boosting the activities of the enforcement unit of the agency.

According to Oki, LASBCA was now in a position to “expand its coverage areas to ensure that non-conforming, defective and distressed structures can promptly be detected and pulled down to avert sudden collapse that might result in loss of lives and property.”

He emphasised the agency’s commitment to prioritising the safety and well-being of Lagosians through monitoring all existing and ongoing building construction, charging the special operations team to work assiduously.and uphold professionalism at all times.

The Head of the Special Operations Team, Toyin Omotosho, further noted that members of his team were committed and dedicated while embracing teamwork, honesty and best practices in the discharge of their duties at all times.

The deployment of the Special Team to LASBCA coincided with the recommendation contained in the White Paper submitted to the State Government on the collapsed building at 44, Gerard Road, Ikoyi.
